The Challenge of Homeopathy
Every week in the MICH Montreal clinic, and during every mission to Honduras, our homeopaths and interns witness and celebrate the newly found health from experiencing homeopathy, as do our peers and colleagues in homeopathic hospitals and clinics from around the world. An example is the International Homeopathic Research Conference in Rome where over 250 scientists from 39 countries meet to share their latest findings in homeopathy research. For more information, visit the HRI website.
Yet, Homeopathy’s detractors (most of whom have vested interests) go out of their way to try to disprove it, despite over 200 years of international medically verifiable evidence supporting its efficacy. Why?
Leaving the economic and political reasons aside; the issue is not with homeopathy; it is with us. We, individually and collectively, are unable to recognize our assumptions and biases about the physical world, life and consciousness. Physics has been trying to tell us something for over a hundred years and we simply can’t hear it.
Why don’t we get it?
Our society holds a materialistic metaphysics that permeates all domains of human endeavor, even psychology, spirituality and religion, where thought, emotion, mental states, meditation and spiritual ecstasy are reduced to “chemistry”. Our society, including those who are responsible for our health care, consider drugs (whether naturally or artificially derived) as the only viable solution to physical, emotional, spiritual and psychological distress and challenges; assuming that we are nothing more than our material, physical, chemical constituents.
The great weakness of science is its inability to include all of experience: thought, imagination, meaning, life and experience itself. These subjects cannot fit into the objective criteria required in current “scientific methods” and thereby are excluded from the world science presents. Science, in its efforts to be purely objective, continues to deny all subjectivity, which is central to experience, study, knowledge, and research. Quantum physics has shown that our picture of the world is incomplete if we do not take into account the subjective perspective.
The Great Weakness of Western Civilization
Current western science is the study of the material world with the assumption that matter is the basis of reality, i.e. only matter is real, DESPITE the fact that well over a century ago, physics proved that the physical world is not the ultimate basis of reality.
As useful as the 1700’s Newtonian materialistic assumptions have been to predict how material objects interact with each other, so as to manipulate matter and develop tools, the mechanical perspective is bumping into the walls of its own limitations. It applies only to the human order of magnitude, but not to the very big nor the very small, nor to life processes. Our mechanical tools have evolved to electronic ones, requiring a new physics and metaphysics to explain their functioning. The technology underlying your computer, cell phone, television, and almost every device you own, requires a quantum physics perspective in order to be understood. This perspective, if fully understood, reveals itself to be a perspective based on a non-material understanding of reality.
Science continues to try to disregard consciousness in its study of the physical world and life, but the discoveries that have changed our lives and created the electronic era of microwave communications, satellites and GPS implies a world-view that involves consciousness not only as a factor, but as what exists as the basis of the physical world.
The metaphysics offered by quantum physics and the most recent leading edge research in biology holds a rich view encompassing both matter and mystery, both the material world and consciousness.
In this expanded scientific approach, homeopathy is not only scientific; it is the most advanced medicine available to humankind.
The Real Problem
The real problem is that homeopathy is beyond the scope of the current popular scientific paradigm. Homeopathy is an immaterial medicine that requires a bigger, greater worldview than the current beliefs and assumptions, in order to be properly understood and used to its full capacity. It requires a scientific paradigm and method that can extend to the immaterial, and the acceptance that there is some dimension/order/reality that underlies the material dimension. This is the scientific method offered by Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy, whose validity has been proven by thousands of medical practitioners in homeopathic practice.
The Challenge for Humanity
It is not only homeopathy that requires an expanded worldview. Our materialistic assumptions are leading us into conditions from which we may not recover.
We must transcend the concept of matter as the ground of reality and existence.
We must instead, see matter as something within our conscious experience – look through it and past it and around it. We need to develop a living relationship with the entire experience of life.
There are many reasons why the detractors to homeopathy are so vehement in their resistance. Homeopathy represents, implies, and requires a shift in perspective from a material one to an immaterial one. This shift will cause a great a psycho-socio-economic revolution as was experienced with the acceptance of Copernicus’ conclusions that the earth was not the center of the universe. It will affect our concept of self, and challenge our delusions of mastery.
Making the Shift
Over the years, MICH has developed experiential exercises that help facilitate this shift in consciousness and worldview. These exercises have always been a required part of the MICH homeopathic training. MICH will be offering these transformational exercises during the experiential weekends of Module 1 in 2016.
This Module can now also be taken for personal interest, for professional development, or with the full accreditation program. Find out more about the different training programs offered here.
In order to make this new reality as accessible as possible to as many people as possible, MICH is also offering full day workshops open to the public for only $50, for a limited time. The workshops are designed to help people make the paradigm shift into a single view of reality that encompasses both the physical dimension and the reality that underlies it. They are open to everyone, so bring your friends and family members!
